Abstract: 

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of computerized cognitive rehabilitation therapies (CCRT) on improvement of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and working memory capacity (WM) in elderly women. This study was a quasi experimental design with a pretest-posttest design with a control group with a one month follow-up. Subjects included 16 elderly women 65 years and older with mild cognitive impairment and low capacity of working memory at the Mehrpouyan elderly home in Behbahan city in 2018-2019. They were selected with an available sampling method and randomly placed in the experimental and control groups. Each group included 8 persons. To evaluate the Main Mental Status Examination (MMSE) (Fulestine et, al., 1975) and the Working Memory Capacity Test (Daneman & Carpenter, 1980). The experimental group was trained for 8 session with a memory rehabilitation software and the control group did not received any training. Data was analyzed with mixed analysis of variance. The scores from the MMSE and the Working Memory Capacity of the experimental group increased dramatically. As a result, computerized cognitive rehabilitation had a significant effect on the improvement of cognitive impairment and the capacity of working memory in elderly women.

Abstract: 

Introduction: cognitive impairments, especially memory problems, are frequent in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and can reduce the quality of their life. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of computerized cognitive rehabilitation on the everyday memory of patients with MS. Method: Forty-six patients aged 20-40 years with MS were randomly divided into two groups. Patients in the experimental group received 12 sessions using memory rehabilitation software, and the patients in waiting-list control group did not receive any interventions at that time, and their training was postponed to after the research. The data were collected using every memory inventory before, immediately after, and one month after the training sessions. Results: The results of repeated measures ANOVA showed that there is a meaningful difference between the mean scores of everyday memory in the two groups in the post-test. Also the no-meaningful difference between the post-test and follow-up scores in the experimental group indicates that computerized cognitive rehabilitation has significant effect on everyday memory performance of multiple sclerosis patients. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that cognitive rehabilitation has a significant effect on the improvement of the memory function of MS patients and can be used as an effective and useful method for improving the memory performance of them.

Abstract: 

Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of cognitive computer rehabilitation on social cognition, inhibitory control and cognitive avoidance of students with learning disabilities. Metods: This research was a semi-experimental, pretest, post-test design with control group. The statistical population of this study was all male students with mathematical disorder in the sixth district of Tabriz, in the academic year of 2018-2019. The population of this study was 30 people selected by multi-stage random sampling method and divided into two groups: intervention and control (15 persons for each group) were placed. The intervention group was exposed to cognitive rehabilitation and did not receive educational control. To collect data, social cognitive tools, cognitive avoidance control and cognitive avoidance, mathematical test were used. Data analysis was done by statistical analysis of covariance. Findings: The findings showed that computer cognitive rehabilitation has an effect on social cognition, inhibitory control and cognitive avoidance of students with learning disabilities, and it increases social cognition and decreases inhibition control and cognitive avoidance in students. Conclusion: Therefore, the use of cognitive computer rehabilitation on students with learning disabilities is suggested.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Computer programs are crucial as a tool for rehabilitating and enhancing executive functions in children as an innovative approach. However, there are conflicting results on the effectiveness of these results. The purpose of the present study is to conduct a systematic review of experimental studies. Methods: This research is a systematic review study in which all articles published in the period were investigated from April 2011 to the end of March 2012. The present study was conducted at the internal databases SID, Magiran, and other databases, such as Google Scholar and PubMed, with the Persian and English keywords to find articles on the Internet. One hundred forty-five published articles were retrieved in Persian and English. Finally, reviewed were obtained only 23 related Persian articles because Latin article is lesser in period time. Results: In most articles, research without considering limits have been used in cognitive rehabilitation software without standardization and adaptability of language. Also, the articles' lack of longitudinal such as follow-up, this study is focusing on a partial cognitive function. Besides, the impact of cognitive rehabilitation has been neglected in daily activities and verbal learning. Conclusion: computerized rehabilitation is used as an appropriate treatment for psychology. The computerized cognitive tasks in environmental education can be a good treatment, as well as other psychological interventions, and an approach to positively affect the performance of children. Actually, that more effective method is computer cognitive training with direct and individual education so that this issue needs to develop and design a Persian program.

Abstract: 

Background: Aging is a process that causes changes in cognitive function and disruption in people's daily activities. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of combination therapy of computerized cognitive rehabilitation and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on the cognitive function in elderly people in Mashhad. Materials and methods: This quasi-experimental and follow-up study was a pre-test-post-test control group design. The study subjects were 60 elderly people aged 60 years and over. They randomly assigned to three experimental groups and a control group. For the three experimental groups, tDCS sessions of the brain, computer-based cognitive rehabilitation, and combination therapy were performed daily for two consecutive weeks. Dependent variables were measured in three rounds of pre-test, post-test, and follow up using symbol digit modalities test, digit span, and integrated visual and auditory tests. Repeated measurement analysis of variance was used to analyze the data. Results: There was a significant difference in the cognitive function between the experimental and control groups. The effectiveness of combination therapy was also different from separate treatments (F= 19. 39, p<0. 05). Conclusion: Computer-based cognitive rehabilitation and tDCS individually improved cognitive function in experimental groups compared to the control group. However, the combination therapy was more effective than the individual therapies and can be one of the useful and practical treatments in this field.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Working memory deficits are common in traumatic brain injury and causing much compromise in patients’ activity of daily living. Research has shown possiblility to improve working memory through cognitive training. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of computerized cognitive rehabilitation on working memory performance in patients with traumatic brain injury.Methods: Fifty two patients with traumatic brain injury aged 16-40 who fulfilled the inclusion criteria, were randomly assigned to experimental and waiting-list control groups. The experimental group was trained for 8 session with a Memory rehabilitation software while the waiting-list control group did not receive any intervention and the training was postponed until after the conclusion of this research. The Wechsler memory index was employed to assess the working memory at baseline, post-test, and follow-up time points.Results: The results of ANCOVA suggested a significant difference between the means of working memory in experimental and waiting-list control groups. The posttest and follow-up scores in the experimental group were not statistically different.Conclusions: The computerized cognitive rehabilitation appeared to exert a significant effect on working memory performance in patients with traumatic brain injury.
